Villa Biener and its gardens

Villa Biener, Where Art and Nature Meet

Villa Biener and its Garden are located a few kilometres from the village of Cipressa, in the province of Imperia. This magnificent place was created by two contemporary artists, Judith Török and Carlo Maglitto.

Conceived as a place in constant dialogue with different forms of artistic expression, the Villa Biener project began in 2006. Overlooking the sea, the Villa is located in an ancient, terraced olive grove. Inside, on the ground floor, this laboratory of experimentation offers spaces for exhibitions, performances, concerts and art events. Spread over the different floors, themed rooms transport visitors into environments shaped by the universe of its creators.
The cultural activities that Villa Biener organises today make it an important point of reference for artists and art enthusiasts from all over the region.

Biener Gardens: Sculptures, Trees and Magic

Villa Biener is surrounded by a hanging garden dotted with works of art and plants. Along the terraced path, Judith Török and Carlo Maglitto have involved international artists in the decoration of this “open-air” museum.

Colourful mosaics cover the space, while moulded statues fit naturally into the vegetal surroundings of olive trees, oaks, fruit trees, plants and Mediterranean flora. At the centre of the Garden is “The Great Mother” (La Grande Madre), a sculpture lying on the ground that has become the emblem of the site.

The Biener Garden is an experience to be lived, a journey where every tile, every path takes on a hidden, modern and primitive meaning.
For further information, visitors are invited to the “Porta di Valle” information point in the municipality of San Lorenzo al Mare.
